One West Cafe and Outpatient Pharmacy, Philadelphia, PA

To meet the needs of its core population of faculty, administrative staff, students, and visitors, UPHS repurposed space to create two new destinations: a cafe with social and event space and a much-needed Outpatient Pharmacy. One West Cafe offers a world-class food program and provides an environment where guests can refuel, relax, restore, reconnect, and rejoice. The goal was to build an urban retreat with a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere that inspires repeat visits. The theme of "Urban Antique" makes use of warm wood tones and neutral/off whites in the servery to provide a calming space and allows the food to dominate and add pops of color. Bright colors and visual textures in the cafe seating area activate that space, encouraging movement and lively conversation.

The Outpatient Pharmacy brings much-needed access to medicines within the PCAM and is located along a high-traffic corridor, shared with the cafe entrance, which provides increased visibility from the PCAM main atrium.
